Dubai property developer Mohamed Alabbar has said the current regional situation cannot continue indefinitely, pointing to the economic pressure caused by higher energy and consumer costs. The Emaar Properties founder said major economies such as India and China are already facing increasing pressure as a result of the ongoing Middle East conflict and its impact on energy prices and household expenses.
Alabbar said the current conditions are putting additional pressure on families, particularly through higher food and fuel costs. He expressed hope that diplomatic efforts would help bring greater stability to the region, allowing economies and businesses to return to more normal operating conditions.
Despite the regional uncertainty, Alabbar remains optimistic about Dubai’s property market. He expects the market to gradually return to normal conditions and believes the sector could see a positive outlook in 2027. His comments come as Dubai continues to attract property investment and maintain its position as a major real estate destination.
The developer also discussed the future of Dubai Creek Tower in Creek Harbour. According to Alabbar, the project is currently being kept on hold while the regional situation develops. Once conditions become clearer, the project could move towards the tendering stage.
Beyond Dubai, Alabbar highlighted Eagle Hills’ continued interest in international real estate opportunities. The company is assessing potential investments in India, including a major beachfront development, while also planning a large waterfront project in Syria. Eagle Hills currently has projects across several international markets and continues to explore new opportunities.
Alabbar also confirmed that Eagle Hills is not considering an initial public offering at this stage. Instead, the company intends to remain focused on developing projects and expanding its international real estate portfolio.
His latest comments underline the connection between regional stability, energy costs and real estate markets. While geopolitical uncertainty continues to affect economic conditions, Dubai’s property sector remains an important part of the emirate’s broader growth story, with developers continuing to plan for future demand and investment.
