Dubai’s rental dispute resolution system is helping tenants and landlords settle disagreements more efficiently, with thousands of cases resolved through amicable agreements during the first nine months of 2026. According to the Dubai Rental Disputes Center (RDC), a total of 2,350 rental disputes were settled between January and September, involving AED 401 million. The average time required to reach a settlement was just six days.
The results highlight Dubai’s efforts to provide a more efficient and accessible legal process for resolving rental conflicts. Through its Conciliation and Settlement Department, the RDC gives landlords and tenants an opportunity to negotiate mutually acceptable solutions without proceeding through a full legal dispute process.
One of the key advantages of this system is that settlement agreements approved by the supervising judge become legally enforceable. This provides both parties with a formal and structured way to resolve disagreements while maintaining protection for their legal rights. It also helps reduce the financial and social pressures that can arise when rental disputes remain unresolved for extended periods.
The RDC’s results demonstrate the growing importance of alternative dispute resolution in Dubai’s property sector. By encouraging cooperation between tenants and landlords, the centre aims to reduce lengthy legal proceedings and provide more flexible solutions for rental-related disagreements.
However, the six-day average applies specifically to cases resolved through amicable settlements and does not mean every rental dispute in Dubai is settled within six days. Cases that require formal litigation may take longer, depending on their circumstances.
As Dubai’s rental market continues to develop, efficient dispute resolution remains an important part of maintaining confidence among residents, landlords and property investors. The latest figures highlight the role of the Rental Disputes Center in promoting fair outcomes, contractual stability and a more reliable rental environment.
