Dubai Launches Dh10 Million Initiative to Support Families Facing Rent Default

Dubai has introduced a new humanitarian initiative aimed at supporting families struggling to meet rental obligations. The programme, named Stir, involves a Dh10 million fund designed to assist tenants facing rent-related legal and financial difficulties, reinforcing the emirate’s commitment to social stability and family well-being.

The initiative has been launched by the Dubai Rental Disputes Center in collaboration with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charitable Establishment. It aligns with Dubai’s declaration of 2026 as the Year of the Family, focusing on protecting households under financial pressure.

Who the Initiative Supports

The Stir initiative is designed to help families who have defaulted on rent payments due to genuine financial hardship. Support will be provided based on specific eligibility criteria, including income level, financial condition, documentation, and rental history.

According to official details, the programme aims to:

  • Secure the release of 111 tenants involved in rent-related cases
  • Resolve approximately 187 enforcement cases
  • Provide direct assistance to 232 eligible families across Dubai

Addressing Rising Housing Costs

With rental prices increasing across several areas of Dubai, housing expenses have become a significant burden for many residents. Authorities stated that the initiative is intended to ease these pressures while ensuring legal cases related to unpaid rent are settled in a fair and structured manner.

By clearing outstanding rental liabilities and closing unresolved disputes, the initiative also helps reduce pressure on the legal system while restoring stability for affected families.

A Socially Focused Approach

Officials involved in the programme emphasized that Stir reflects Dubai’s broader approach to social responsibility, combining legal structure with humanitarian support. The goal is not only to address immediate rent defaults but also to preserve family unity and long-term housing security.

Final Thoughts

The Dh10 million Stir initiative highlights Dubai’s proactive efforts to balance economic growth with social care. By supporting families facing rental challenges, the emirate continues to position itself as a city that prioritizes community welfare alongside development.
